Terms of Use
The agreement between your family and Once Upon Us during early access, in plain words.
These terms are the agreement between you and Mind On Fire LLC, which makes Once Upon Us. By using the app you agree to them and to the Privacy Policy. We've tried to keep them short and plain.
Who can use it
Once Upon Us is for parents, guardians and the grown-ups they invite. You must be 18 or older to have an account. Kids enjoy the books with you; they don't have accounts of their own.
Early access
Early access is free while we build the app with a small group of families. That means:
- Features, styles and limits (like how many new books you can make each month) may change.
- Photos and voice are off for early-access families for now.
- Sometimes a book will wait until the next morning, or finish a little later, when we're busy or a service we rely on is having trouble.
- We may pause or end early access. If we do, we'll tell you first and give you time to save anything you want.
What you share
You keep everything you give us: your words, your photos, your family's details. You let us use them to make and show your books, and to share them with the services listed in the Privacy Policy for that purpose only. That permission ends when you delete them.
Only share things you have the right to share. Only describe people who are your family, or whose grown-ups have said it's fine.
The books
The stories are written, illustrated and narrated with AI, and each title page says so. The books we make for you are yours to read, keep, print and share with family and friends. Please don't sell them.
AI makes mistakes. A picture might not look like your child, or a page might say something odd. Please look over a book before reading it to your kids; you can change any page or delete the book.
Keeping it gentle
Once Upon Us is a bedtime app for small children. Don't ask it for anything sexual, violent, hateful, or about self-harm, and never anything that sexualizes a child.
We check typed words automatically before they reach the storyteller. If something is stopped, the app will ask you to try different words. If it happens several times in a day, story-making pauses for a day and we take a look. We may suspend or close accounts that keep trying, and we report apparent child sexual abuse material to the National Center for Missing & Exploited Children, as the law requires.
Don't try to break, overload or get around the app's limits, or get into anyone else's family.
Ending things
You can delete your family's books, or everything at once with "Delete everything", at any time. We may suspend or close an account that breaks these terms. If we close yours for any other reason, we'll give you notice and time to save your books.
The legal part
We work hard on Once Upon Us, but we provide it "as is", without promises that it will always be available, error-free, or right for your family. To the extent the law allows, Mind On Fire LLC isn't liable for indirect or consequential losses, and our total liability to you is limited to $50. Nothing here limits rights you have under laws that can't be waived.
These terms are governed by the laws of the United States and of the state where Mind On Fire LLC is organized. If something goes wrong, please write to us first; most things can be sorted out with an email.
Changes
If we change these terms in a way that matters, the app will ask you to read and agree again. The date at the top says when they last changed.
